Description: Osmo Country Colour is an opaque satin-matt wood finish for interior and exterior woodwork. It is microporous, based on natural oils and will not crack, flake peel or blister.
Osmo WR Basecoat is a clear wood impregnation to prevent and protect against rot and blue stain.
Job: We used Osmo Country Colour White (2101), to paint a handmade redwood pine external door. Osmo WR Basecoat was used as a first coat to further protect the door from rot and water ingress.
Application:The door first had a coat of Osmo WR Basecoat applied to all surfaces and was left to dry for 24 hours in our paint shop. We also painted the tongue and grooved joints before the door was finally glued together, so as to reduce the sight of unpainted wood appearing when these joints open up slightly over time. Any small cracks, or slightly open knots were then filled using Osmo wood filler. which was then smoothed with a damp cloth and then lightly sanded. The first coat of the Osmo Country Colour was then applied.
TOP TIP: Turn the door upside down so as not to get paint on door seals or sill. The Osmo Country Colour is quite thin, so even if you tape the seals and sills up, it gets behind the tape. As it is a stain, it soaks into the grain and is difficult to get out once in.
Take note. When using in conjunction with Osmo WR Basecoat, the drying time is increased (even more so when it is cold), so if you can application in cold weather will take longer to cure.
